2026 U-Series China National Youth Ice Hockey Championship

Established in 1980, Hong Kong, China Ice Hockey Association Limited (HKCIHA) is the national sports association for ice hockey in Hong Kong. HKCIHA is a registered full member with International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and the associate member of Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China.

We are looking for Equipment Manager for 2026 U-series China National Ice Youth Hockey Championship U12, U14 and U18. Details for the events are below.

Positions: Equipment Manager
Pay Rate: HK$1,300/per day

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:-

  • Manage and maintain all team equipment
    • Skates, sticks (as applicable), pads, gloves, helmets/cages, shoulder/chest protectors, pants, socks, mouthguards, etc.
  • Issue equipment to players
    • Fit the right gear to each player
    • Ensure correct sizing and that each piece is properly configured
  • Inspect equipment before and after use
    • Check for wear, damage, missing components, or safety issues
    • Remove/repair/replace unsafe or defective items
  • Skate and equipment preparation
    • Perform skate sharpening/rotation schedules (or coordinate with a skate-tech partner)
    • Ensure helmets/visors/cages are correctly seated and functioning
  • Repair and replacement coordination
    • Fix straps, buckles, padding seams, laces, holders, and tape points
    • Identify replacement needs and track inventory levels
  • Laundry, cleaning, and hygiene
    • Wash and sanitize frequently used items (pads, gloves, jerseys as applicable)
    • Dry equipment properly to prevent odor, mildew, and deterioration
  • Pre-game and practice readiness
    • Have equipment ready and staged on time
    • Ensure spare gear is available for emergencies (injuries, replacements, missing items)
  • Travel equipment management
    • Pack, organize, and transport team equipment for road games/tournaments
    • Confirm counts and readiness upon arrival
  • Practice/game-day support
    • Provide on-the-spot fixes (tape, lacing, tightening straps, padding adjustments)
    • Handle last-minute equipment issues quickly
  • Compliance and safety
    • Ensure equipment meets league/tournament safety requirements (e.g., helmet/cage rules)
    • Keep records or documentation if required by the organization
  • Coach/player communication
    • Coordinate with coaches medical staff, and team manager on equipment needs (especially return-from-injury changes)
    • Communicate replacement/repair timelines and fitting issues

Requirements

  • Prefer candidates who currently live in Hong Kong and hold an HKID card, with a valid passport (at least 6 months remaining).
  • Must have a visa to travel to China (Mainland), i.e., a Mainland Travel Permit or a valid China visa.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong command of spoken English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
