IIHF Hockey Camp

2019 IIHF Hockey Development Camp, July 6-13, 2019 in Vierumaki, Finland

High-Performance Camp, July 7-14, 2018

We are writing to inform all Member National Associations (MNA’s) about the upcoming Women’s High-Performance Camp (HPC) in Vierumäki Finland, taking place July 7-14, 2018.

After the very successful 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, Korea this February we are looking forward to seeing and enjoying more women ice hockey in the future.
For the benefit of the game – specially in favor of the women’s hockey program – officiating must keep up with the evolution of the hockey teams, the rising quality of the game and the growing number of players and teams. This is a big challenge for the officiating program nationally and internationally.
In that perspective the game officials and the officiating management must get ready for the games – and not only for better quality games but also for a higher number of games.
The Olympic Games 2022 Beijing are only four years away, we can cannot “wait and see”, we must also step up our game and get ready for the upcoming challenges.
Next season the IIHF World Women Championships and the IIHF World Women U18 will take place in a new format with 10 teams. The games should be worked in the 4-official system.
For that reason, the IIHF decided to run and operate a Women’s Officiating Summer Camp during the IIHF Women’s High-Performance Camp in Vierumäki.
Participants at the HPC in July will be officiating games as well as receiving development guidance from the attending instructors.
The participation is open to
• game officials who already have some experience in this field but have the potential and interest for further development, or
• former/retired/active women players who want to sense and start their new career as an on-ice-game official.
At this stage we ask all MNA’s to suggest possible candidates for participation in the HPC Women’s Officiating Summer Camp by June 15th, 2018.
Based on the number of applications, the IIHF will afterwards confirm the names of those game officials that can attend the camp.

Financial Regulations
Whereas the MNA will be responsible for the insurance and daily allowances for their representatives, the IIHF will be responsible for the travel costs (flights from the home airport of the participant to Helsinki and back) camp organization which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, meeting room facilities, ground transportation between Helsinki and Vierumäki and accommodation cost.
Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best regards,
INTERNATIONAL ICE HOCKEY FEDERATION
